Just found out Ive got a space at Porfest in the Pens at Penrith in August. Exciting event for potters. Have to make an entry peice for this years competition entitled puzzles and games. Plus a drinking vessel to swap with another potter! Lots of work to do getting the right stock together for this event. Yippee!
Lots of very pretty little shapes strung and packaged up onto thread ready to return to Messingham Brownies, 5 Lovely planters drying down, Fishes in the kiln and nearly done. Flower angels ready for lustre, and two fairy folk - the first for a while, not to mention the very big witch stood on the pottery bench!! Oh My!! busy busy!
Well! That was fun!! Studio week came and went. Over 50 visitors! Thats quite a lot of cake! Lots of Green Men, Witches and Dragons found new homes and Ive got a long list of commission work to be getting on with HOORAY!!! Thank you to everone who visited my wibbly wobbly home and pottery. For anyone who missed it I'm hoping to do the Insight event in September. Watch out for details of that one.
The little tree that nearly all the visitors added a leaf to has loads of leaves and is waiting to be fired and glazed. I'll post a picture of it here and keep you up to date with its progress. Day Four was a quiet day.... Although good things happened! Dorothy and her husband came to see me about the possibility of doing some clay workshops in st Oswalds!! The Church has been renovated and i being used for community activities! Watch out on my Events page for dates and workshops. Had a lovely time looking after my Grandson Jacob!

Three day into the Open Studio Week! Its been fab! A trickle of people who have looked around the pottery, enjoyed the garden and the yummy cake and looked at my work. Witches, Dragons and Angels all stood in the summerhouse!
The little clay tree is looking quite leafy now! Keep having a look to see it grow - better still.. come along and add a little leaf of your own! Well Saturday is the first day of my Open Studio Week. The rain seems to have stopped and fingers crossed, we'll get some sun to light our way next week.
I'm looking forward to welcoming whoever turns up, into my little wobbly pottery!! I will have some work ongoing to show the process of producing my figures and plaques. There will be Witches, Dragons, Green men and Angels to look at. There will also be tea and cake (made by Emma) or butterfly buns (made by my Dad)! I am going to have a little clay tree plaque underway and I would love everyone who visits to make a clay leaf to add to the tree as a momento of my first studio event! I'll post pictures through the week and include images of the tree as it 'grows' Check out the home page of my web site - it now has a picture of my pottery door with the finished plaque that Dawn made for me on it. Lots going on at the moment! I'm busy getting ready for the AOTM event May 5th to May13th. Lots to do!! The plaque for the pottery door is now fired and looks fabulous - even better than the photo!! Witches, Dragons and Greenmen looking forward to meeting anyone who cares to pop in to the pottery to vidsit us during that week!! Rabbit workshop at Watersedge last week was fun!! Lots of gorgeous rabbits were created . They are in the kiln tonight getting their lovely shiny glaze coat. They will be returned to Watersedge this Saturday when I go to run the Adult Workshop making redclay sun plaques - look forward to seeing you there! There are still one or two places left!! This Saturday and Sunday there is an Artisans in Action event at Forest Pines near Scunthorpe. A lovely venue to spend some time looking at qaulity crafts and seeing demonstrations. I will be there on Sunday, you can drop in and make a decorated heart or star to be returned later by post for just £2.50!!. This Saturday in Doncaster an Enchanted Evening is taking place at the racecourse to raise money for the make a wish charity. I have made and donated a fairiy holding a star for the event . She is to be auctioned to raise money so I hope she does well!! |
